No. The Student Information System (SIS) is still the primary system for academic records, course management, degree audit, enrollment, and other key functions. The GPS system is intended to supplement SIS.
NC State University has a commitment to student success, from enrollment to graduation. This system leverages technology to create and support a proactive advising environment, ensure continuity of individual advising, identify student populations that may require customized advising support, and identify tools for early detection when students are at risk. With a decentralized model of advising at NC State, it becomes even more important to identify efficient mechanisms of coordinating and streamlining student support. GPS allows advisors to provide students with continuity of care through powerful communication and workflow solutions.
GPS provides quick access to critical information and simplifies scheduling and communications with students. With powerful advanced searches and analytics, GPS allows advisors to provide targeted outreach and interventions to students in need of additional support. These time-saving technologies allow advisors to focus their efforts on improving student success.
Roles are based on your individual level of SIS access.
Currently, students are only assigned to primary advisors as designated in SIS. We are working to establish relationships between students and other secondary campus advisors.
Currently, there is no way to set your default. The list will default to the current term.
Grade exclusions are not imported into GPS. You will need to look in SIS for this information. GPS is not a replacement for SIS.
This is the student interface via a mobile app. Starting in mid-June 2018, students will be able to download the app. University employees will not be able to login as there is no relevant content for anyone but students. However, there will be a web browser version of the app that will be linked here sometime in summer 2018.
